Hinduja National Hospital, Mahim, where he trained in head and neck and breast surgery, and as Visiting Consultant at Kohinoor Hospital, Mumbai. He later served as Senior Clinical Fellow in the Cambridge Breast Unit at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, UK, gaining comprehensive training in breast surgery and advanced oncoplastic techniques such as chest wall perforator flaps, ADM-assisted implants and DIEP flap reconstruction.
- His expertise covers head and neck cancers with reconstruction, including tumours of the larynx, parotid, thyroid, parathyroid and parapharyngeal space. In breast surgery he performs skin and nipple-sparing and Goldilocks mastectomies, sentinel node biopsy and axillary clearance, muscle-sparing perforator flaps (LICAP, AICAP, LTAP, TDAP), therapeutic mammoplasties, nipple reconstruction, prepectoral and subpectoral implant reconstruction, image-guided excisions and DIEP flaps, especially for bilateral prophylactic mastectomies.
- Dr. Borkar graduated with 4 distinctions and was a topper in Medicine, was 2nd rank holder in MS (General Surgery) and received the Best Resident Award. His research at Tata Memorial Hospital examined intraoperative bone analysis for mandibulectomy, and at Cambridge he studied avoidance of chemotherapy in hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.
