He then worked as Consultant - Surgical Oncology at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute, New Delhi (2006 to 2012) and as Senior Consultant - Surgical Oncology at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi (2012 to 2025). For nearly two decades he was also a National Board certified teacher for DNB Surgical Oncology at both institutions.
- He is regarded as a pioneer in oesophageal, lung, mediastinal and thymic cancer surgery and was the first to perform robotic oesophageal and lung cancer surgery in Delhi. His broader expertise covers hepato-pancreato-biliary and gastrointestinal cancer surgery, breast conserving surgery, head and neck cancers, gynaecological cancers and bone and soft tissue sarcomas.
- Dr. Zaidi is skilled in minimally invasive and advanced techniques such as video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), robotic surgery, hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for cancers spread within the abdomen, and hyperthermic intrathoracic chemotherapy (HITHOC) for selected chest cancers such as mesothelioma.
- He has authored 9 publications in reputed national and international journals and received the Best Research Paper Award at the ASCO Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium (2019) and the Best Foreign Fellow award at Oita University and Hospital, Japan (2006). He is a member of the Indian Association of Surgical Oncologists (IASO), the Indian Society of Oncology (ISO), the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) and the Indian Society for Study of Lung Cancer (ISSLC).
