During his training he completed a national observership in the Department of GI and HPB Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and a fellowship course in palliative care, followed by an international observership at the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, UNMC, Omaha, USA in 2020. He worked at Mamatha Academy of Medical Sciences from 2021 to 2024 before joining Yashoda Hospitals, Hitec City in 2024.
He treats a wide range of solid organ cancers, including oral, head and neck and thyroid cancers, breast cancer with oncoplastic reconstruction, lung and oesophageal cancers, stomach and colorectal cancers, liver and pancreatic cancers, gynaecological cancers, kidney and bladder cancers, and bone tumours. Oncoplastic breast surgery combines cancer removal with plastic surgery techniques to preserve the natural shape of the breast.
A strong advocate of laparoscopic and robotic cancer surgery, Dr. Paladugu focuses on organ preservation, less post-operative pain, faster recovery and better quality of life without compromising oncological outcomes. Minimally invasive approaches allow complex cancer operations through small incisions, reducing hospital stay and helping patients return to normal activity sooner.
His academic work includes research on nasolabial flap reconstruction for oral cavity cancer, the effect of post-operative albumin levels on complications after oesophageal cancer surgery (presented at NATCON IASO 2019, Kolkata) and the management of a rare aggressive calcaneal giant cell tumour. He won the best poster presentation at NATCON, Kolkata in 2019 and first prize in a thyroid and parathyroid surgery quiz at Narayana Health City, Bengaluru, and earlier received the Dr. Narayana Rao Gold Medal in Biochemistry. He is a member of the Indian Association of Surgical Oncology and the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons, and consults in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, English and Malayalam.
