He has extensive experience in both conventional open and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery for site-specific cancers. Laparoscopic cancer surgery removes tumours with appropriate margins and lymph nodes through small incisions, which can reduce pain and speed recovery without compromising oncological outcomes.
His areas of expertise include cancers of the oesophagus, stomach and other gastrointestinal organs, colorectal cancer, genito-urinary cancers and gynaecological cancers. He works closely with medical and radiation oncologists to plan comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment for each patient.
Dr. Mummaneni is involved in research and has presented at conferences and training programmes, and he takes part in public awareness on early detection and prevention of cancer. He is a life member of the Association of Surgeons of India and a member of the Indian Association of Surgical Oncology.
