- He treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions including disc prolapse, sciatica, cervical spondylosis, spinal tuberculosis and kyphotic deformities, spondylolisthesis, failed back syndrome, osteoarthritis requiring knee replacement, sports injuries, complex fractures including pelvic and acetabular fractures, and paediatric conditions such as Perthes disease and cerebral palsy.
- His publications include work on pedicle subtraction osteotomy for rigid post-tuberculous kyphosis and a modified Gaines procedure for spondyloptosis in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (British), MRI classification of femoral head osteonecrosis and Perthes disease, percutaneous plating for complex long bone fractures in Injury, and a classification of acetabular fractures. He presented on the role of instrumentation in spinal tuberculosis at the ASSI annual conference (2002) and on posterior vertebrectomy for rigid kyphosis at WIROC 2003, for which he was also Organising Secretary.
- Dr. Dhar has served as Secretary and executive committee member of the Bombay Orthopaedic Society and is a member of the Association of Spinal Surgeons of India, the Indian Spinal Cord Society and AO Spine India.
