His arthroplasty fellowships in robotics, navigation, customisation and minimally invasive techniques were completed at Sunshine Hospital, Hyderabad, Golden Jubilee Hospital, Glasgow, King's College, London and Helios Endoklinik, Hamburg. He is the first Indian surgeon to train at the FIFA Centre of Medical Excellence in Portugal, where he completed a sports medicine and arthroscopy fellowship.
- Dr. Bhalerao also treats sports injuries, performing sub-centimetre arthroscopic keyhole surgery for soft-tissue problems of the knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip and ankle, such as ligament tears and meniscal injuries. He trains other surgeons in robotic joint replacement and arthroscopy at cadaver centres in India, Singapore and Thailand, and was faculty at the WIROC conference in December 2024.
- His earlier roles include Assistant Professor at LTMMC, Sion and K. J. Somaiya Medical College and Hospital, Sion, Honorary Consultant and Unit Head at HBT Medical College with the Cooper Group of Hospitals and HBT Trauma Centre, Jogeshwari, and six years as HOD and Chief at Wockhardt Group of Hospitals, Mumbai.
