He established joint replacement centres across three Indian Army hospitals and contributed to setting up the Indian Army's first paediatric orthopaedic centre.
- He is a pioneer in introducing robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery within Armed Forces medical institutions and performed the first hip arthroscopy within the Indian Army healthcare system. His joint replacement practice includes robotic and computer-navigated knee replacement, primary and revision total knee and hip replacement, unicondylar (partial) knee replacement and total shoulder replacement.
- In arthroscopy and sports medicine, Dr. Ghai performs arthroscopic knee, shoulder and hip surgery, ligament reconstruction (ACL, PCL, MPFL, MCL and LCL), meniscus repair and joint preservation procedures, helping active patients and athletes return to sport and daily activity.
- He was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) by the President of India in 2024 and has received more than 11 military honours and awards for distinguished service. He has more than 17 publications in national orthopaedic indexed journals, has authored a textbook and CD for the Post Basic Diploma in Orthopaedic & Rehabilitation Nursing, and is a member of the IOA, the Indian Arthroplasty Association, the Indian Arthroscopy Society, the Delhi Orthopaedic Association and ISKSAA.
