- Since September 2019 he has held the position of Associate Director, Orthopaedics and Head of Department at the Asian Institute of Medical Sciences, Faridabad, where he also heads the Joint Replacement Programme. In this role he organises departmental academics and mentors DNB orthopaedic trainees, contributing to the training of the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons.
- His clinical work covers primary, complex primary and revision arthroplasty of the hip, knee and shoulder, along with arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder. Joint replacement relieves pain and restores movement in joints damaged by arthritis or injury, while arthroscopy allows ligament, meniscus and cartilage problems to be treated through keyhole incisions with quicker recovery.
- Dr. Thukral is also experienced in complex pelvi-acetabular and intra-articular trauma surgery, which requires precise reconstruction of fractured joint surfaces to preserve long-term function. In children, he performs CTEV (clubfoot) correction using both serial casting and surgical techniques.
- He is an active member of SICOT, AO Trauma Asia Pacific and ESSKA, a life member of the Indian Orthopaedic Association, the Indian Arthroplasty Association and the Delhi and Mumbai orthopaedic societies, and an associate member of the Indian Society of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
