Other Achievements

• Founded Shalby Hospitals in 1994 in Ahmedabad, pioneering Total Knee Replacement surgeries in India.
• Commissioned 200-bed multi-specialty tertiary-care Shalby Hospital at S.G. Highway, Ahmedabad in 2007. Today Shalby operates 11 hospitals in 8 cities across India with an aggregate bed capacity of 2000 beds.
• Performed over 1,50,000 joint replacement surgeries till date. Today, Dr. Shah and his team do more than 800 primary joint replacements a month. This is the highest number of joint replacement surgeries performed by a single Hospital team anywhere in the world.
• Appointment on the Board of Designers of Zimmer, manufacturers of prosthetic joints
• Won award for Academic Paper Contest for Better Arthroplasty organized by ASIA (Arthroplasty Society In Asia) and ARTHROPLASTY journal. The submissions included a large number of entries from the best of hospitals and academic institutes from across the world.
• Award for outstanding work in the medical field by the Ahmedabad Medical Association during its 103rd annual meeting in Ahmedabad, India.
• Faculty of Orthopaedics for DNB Orthopaedics program run by National Board of Examinations, New Delhi at Shalby Hospitals (Jan 2011 to December 2013)
• Dr Vikram Shah was President of the Indian Society of Hip & Knee Surgeons (ISHKS) for the years 2010-2011 and played a pivotal role in establishing the society in India.
