He then served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad from 2016 to 2020, and as Consultant Neurosurgeon at Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad from 2020 to 2024, before joining CARE Hospitals as Senior Consultant.
He has pursued further training through the Japan-India Neurosurgical collaboration training programme in Japan (2018) and a course in stitchless spine surgery under local anaesthesia (2022). His expertise includes surgery for cerebrovascular disease, cranial and spinal tumours, cranial and spinal trauma, cervical and lumbar disc prolapse, hydrocephalus, craniovertebral junction anomalies and developmental disorders, as well as epilepsy surgery and deep brain stimulation (DBS) for movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease.
His research has been published in the Journal of Spine, on ossification of the ligamentum flavum due to fluorosis, and in the Asian Journal of Neurosurgery, on spinopelvic alignment after short-segment fusion in spondylolisthesis. He has presented on stereotactic biopsy at NSICON, Mumbai (2013), the evolution of aneurysm clips at NIMS (2018), and trans-vertebral excision of cervical intradural lesions at NSI-YNFCON 2023 and the 18th WFNS World Congress of Neurosurgery, Cape Town (2023).
Dr. Bhavani Prasad Ganji has received a Lions Clubs International award on Doctor's Day (2018), the Vydhyarathna Award (2023) and the best paper presentation award at NSI-YNFCON 2023, Hyderabad. He is a life member of the Neurological Society of India and consults in English, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.
