He is regarded as a disciplined and confident surgeon who has taken part in more than 100 vascular and paediatric neurosurgeries and 150 skull base surgeries. His expertise covers skull base surgery, neurovascular surgery, minimally invasive brain and spine surgery and endoscopic discectomy, a keyhole technique for removing a herniated disc that reduces muscle damage and speeds recovery. He has also been involved in robotic brain tumour procedures and awake craniotomy.
Dr. Kiran completed a fellowship at Osaka University, Japan, under Professor Ohata, and attended a spine workshop at Ramaiah Institute, Bangalore, and a transforaminal endoscopic discectomy workshop in Dehradun. He was a gold medallist in both MBBS and MS.
His research includes a study of hypertensive intracerebral bleeds and surgical outcome, and a clinical study of brain abscess treated with repeated aspirations. He consults in English, Hindi and Telugu and treats patients with brain tumours, head injuries, spinal disorders and back pain.
