He also manages degenerative spine problems such as disc compression, radiculopathy and sciatica, where nerve roots are pinched by a bulging disc or narrowed spinal canal, causing pain, numbness or weakness in the arms or legs.
Dr. Vamshi Krishna has a particular interest in minimally invasive brain and spine surgery, aneurysm clipping and cervical disc replacement. To refine his endoscopic skills he completed an Endoscopic Spine Surgery fellowship under Dr. Satish Chandra Gore in 2022 and trained in minimally invasive full endoscopic spine surgery at St. Anna Hospital, Herne, Germany, under Dr. Ruetten in 2024. These keyhole techniques allow disc and nerve decompression through very small incisions, with less muscle damage, less pain and a quicker return to normal activity.
He is active in research and has publications including 'Posttraumatic Hydrocephalus: Risk Factors, Treatment Modalities, and Prognosis' and 'C1C2 Distraction and Compression Technique for Craniovertebral Junction Anomalies with Basilar Invagination and Irreducible Atlantoaxial Dislocation', along with surgical case reports. He received the Best Poster Award at the State Conference 2018 for his presentation on Proteus syndrome and the Best Paper Presentation award at the National Conference 2019 for his work on the C1-C2 distraction technique.
He is a member of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS), the Neurosurgical Society of India and the Neurological Society of India. He speaks English, Hindi and Telugu, which helps him communicate clearly with patients and families, and he remains committed to keeping up with the latest advances in neurosurgery to deliver safe, patient-centred care.
