During his training at PGIMER he worked on an ICMR-funded project (1996) on the effect of free radicals in sepsis following abdominal surgery under Prof. N.K. Ganguly, presented an award paper at the 45th Annual Conference of the Indian Association of Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgeons in Bhopal (February 1999), and has been involved in a prospective study comparing beating-heart and conventional CABG surgery.
