He was formerly Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Head of the Department of Burns, Plastic, Maxillofacial and Microvascular Surgery at Lok Nayak Hospital and Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, and Professor of Plastic Surgery at Delhi University, where he trained many plastic surgeons.
- He is especially known for ear reconstruction for absent or deformed ears, including bat ear correction, and has conducted ear reconstruction workshops in India, Oman and Mauritius, as well as a cadaver rib cartilage workshop at AIIMS, New Delhi in 2016. His cosmetic work includes rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, facelift, liposuction, fat injection, abdominoplasty, and breast enlargement, reduction and reconstruction.
- His reconstructive practice covers microvascular and head and neck cancer reconstruction, eyelid, chest wall and abdominal reconstruction, cleft lip and palate surgery, hand surgery, post-burn deformity correction, functional muscle transfer and facio-maxillary injury management. He also performs hypospadias repair, penile reconstruction, genital cosmetic surgery, vaginal reconstruction and penile implants for erectile dysfunction.
- Dr. Bhandari has published more than 50 papers in national and international journals and has been guest lecturer and guest surgeon at many conferences, including chairing or organising NABICON and APSI meetings. His honours include the Delhi Government NCT State Award (2013-14), the DMA Vishisht Chikitsa Ratan Award (2019), the Safdarjung National Academy of Burns-India Professorship (2015), the Ethicon Visiting Professorship of the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India (2016), the Phoolan Devi Gupta Oration (2018) and the Professor Murari Mohan Mukherjee Oration at APSICON 2020-21.
- He is a Full Member of the Association of Surgeons of India, a Life Member of the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India and its Delhi Chapter, a Life Member of the National Academy of Burns-India, and a Founder Member of the Rhinoplasty Society of India.
