He has treated patients from England, Oman, the UAE, Bangladesh and other countries.
- He has several firsts to his name. He introduced peripheral stem cell transplantation for chronic myeloid leukaemia in India, as well as the use of G-CSF during conditioning and of rituximab as in-vivo purging for autologous transplants in NHL. He was involved in India's first unrelated umbilical cord blood transplant for thalassaemia major, India's first bone marrow transplant for sickle cell disease, and Asia's first unrelated cord blood transplant for Krabbe's disease.
- He has been principal investigator on many clinical trials of new cancer drugs and phase II/III studies, and is pursuing a PhD in pharmacogenomics in ovarian cancer. He is a recognised teacher for DNB Medical Oncology. Since 2009 he has represented the India/Pakistan/Bangladesh region on the Board of the European Society for Medical Oncology.
- His publications include papers in The Lancet on high-dose chemotherapy with stem cell rescue in lung cancer (1996) and metastatic breast cancer (1998), and studies in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology on Langerhans cell histiocytosis and desmoplastic small round cell tumour. He was awarded an international fellowship in haematology/oncology at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, USA.
