  • His clinical focus is haematological cancers such as leukaemias, lymphomas and myeloma, together with selected solid tumours, including head and neck, breast, lung, ovarian and germ cell tumours. He plans and supervises chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy, tailoring treatment to the biology of each cancer and the overall health of the patient.
  • Research has been a constant part of his career. He has worked as an investigator on both investigator-initiated and pharmaceutical-sponsored clinical trials from Phase I to Phase IV in haematological malignancies and solid tumours. He has more than 170 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has served as section editor for oncology in the API Textbook of Medicine across several recent editions.
  • Dr. Saikia is also committed to teaching and has been involved in training doctors in the DNB Medical Oncology programme. Beyond the clinic, he is associated with non-governmental organisations that support cancer patients and their families, reflecting his belief that cancer care must address the social as well as the medical needs of patients.
