- His special interests include head and neck cancer surgery, microvascular surgery, oral reconstructive procedures, local flaps for head and neck surgical defects, thyroid surgery and quality-of-life outcomes after treatment. His research includes outcomes of mandibular reconstruction with the vascularised double-barrel free fibula flap and different types of canal wall down mastoidectomy in chronic otitis media.
- Alongside head and neck surgery, he treats the full range of ear, nose and throat conditions, including chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps, deviated nasal septum, sinonasal tumours, chronic ear disease and hearing loss, vertigo and tinnitus, tonsillitis, voice disorders and vocal cord lesions. He has had hands-on training in cadaveric temporal bone dissection, endoscopic sinus surgery and advanced microvascular surgery.
- Dr. Nair has presented on mandibular reconstruction, the tumour specimen index in head and neck histopathology, vestibular migraine and imaging of the paranasal sinuses, and published on cartilage tympanoplasty in the Bengal Journal of Otorhinolaryngology (2011). He communicates with patients in English, Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam and Nepali.
