In ear surgery he performs myringotomy with grommet insertion for middle ear fluid, tympanoplasty to repair perforated eardrums and mastoid surgery for chronic ear infections. His nasal work includes septoplasty for a deviated septum, turbinoplasty for nasal blockage and functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) for chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps.
For throat conditions he performs tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy using the coblation technique, which is associated with less pain and faster recovery, as well as micro-laryngeal surgery for voice box lesions. He also manages obstructive sleep apnoea surgically and evaluates and treats neck masses.
Dr. Hakeem has presented papers at national conferences and is a recipient of the Luminary Health Award. He is a member of the Association of Otolaryngologists of India (AOI) and the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Hyderabad, and he consults in Hindi, English, Urdu and Telugu.
