He has held the posts of Director, Professor and Head at leading medical institutions, teaching MBBS, DLO and MS (ENT) students, and served as Medical Superintendent of University College of Medical Sciences and GTB Hospital, Delhi.
- He has a special interest in ear surgery to restore hearing, including tympanoplasty, mastoid surgery and stapes surgery for otosclerosis. He also performs functional endoscopic sinus surgery for chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps, microsurgery of the larynx for voice disorders such as vocal cord nodules and polyps, and LASER surgery in the ear, nose and throat.
- He is the author of the widely used textbook Diseases of Ear, Nose and Throat (Elsevier), now in its 4th edition, as well as the Self Education and Self Assessment Manual of ENT and an MCQ-based self-assessment book, which have been used by generations of medical students. He has published more than 40 articles in national and international journals.
- Dr. Dhingra is a life member of the Association of Otolaryngologists of India, the Indian Medical Association, the Rhinological Society of India and the National Academy of Medical Sciences, a member of the Neuro-otological and Equilibriometric Society of India, and has served as President of the Delhi branch of the Association of Otolaryngologists of India. He is also on the advisory board of VERTIGO update (Elsevier, Singapore).
