- He is an advanced therapeutic endoscopist and endosonologist who has performed over 30,000 endoscopies, 10,000 colonoscopies, 9,000 ERCPs and 9,000 endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) procedures. His advanced endoscopy work includes ERCP, SpyGlass cholangioscopy, endoscopic full-thickness resection (EFTR), EUS, spiral enteroscopy and third-space endoscopy, minimally invasive techniques that allow many bile duct, pancreatic and bowel conditions to be treated without open surgery.
- He treats adults and children with gastrointestinal disorders and has special expertise in liver, pancreatic and bile duct diseases, transplant hepatology and complex GI conditions, along with preventive and screening services. His research focus is cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer), and he has over 30 publications and book chapters, including a 2021 Lancet Gastroenterology and Hepatology article on fatty liver disease, a Frontline Gastroenterology paper on emergency ERCP in critically ill patients and a national survey of nutritional support in UK intensive care units published in Gut.
