Endoscopic approaches like these allow many bile duct and pancreatic problems to be treated without open surgery.
- He also performs variceal banding and glue injection for bleeding varices, polypectomy, endoscopic mucosal resection, stricture and achalasia dilatation and PEG insertion, including paediatric diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and PEG placement in infants. His clinical practice covers GERD, IBS and other functional gut disorders, liver disease, pancreatitis and gastrointestinal and pancreatobiliary cancers.
- Dr. Agal was named among the 10 best gastroenterologists in Mumbai in a 2009 peer survey by an independent journal, delivered the Dr. Phani Dhar Memorial Oration on nonalcoholic steatohepatitis in 2019, and received Best Paper awards from the Indian Journal of Gastroenterology in 1993 and 1994. He has more than 50 publications in national and international journals on endoscopic therapy, hepatitis B and C and fatty liver disease, and consults in English and Hindi.
