- She performs orbital surgery including thyroid orbital decompression, lacrimal drainage surgery such as dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) for blocked tear ducts, and management of eyelid, ocular surface and facial tumours, including eyelid cancer.
- Dr. Ayyar has published on sebaceous gland carcinoma of the eyelid, punctoplasty for punctal stenosis and bacteraemia during DCR, and has presented at ESOPRS (Athens), ASOPRS symposia (Las Vegas, Chicago) and AAO 2015. Her awards include first prize in Abstract Art at the 79th AIOS Annual Conference, second prize for a rapid-fire case presentation at Narayana Nethralaya (2015) and Best Educational Video at MOSCON 2015, Goa.
