His expertise spans general radiology, neuroradiology, thoracic and cardiovascular radiology, gastrointestinal, uro- and musculoskeletal radiology, ultrasound and colour Doppler imaging, whole body CT, MRI, mammography and oncology imaging, as well as vascular and interventional radiology. This breadth allows him to provide expert opinions on complex diagnostic problems across almost every speciality.
Dr. Mandapal has held leadership roles in national radiology bodies, serving as President of the Indian Society of Vascular & Interventional Radiology (2003-2004) and President of the Indian Radiological & Imaging Association (2007-2008). He chaired the 5th Annual National Congress of ISVIR and the Indian Society of Neuro Radiology in 2002 and the Scientific Committee of the 57th Annual National Congress of IRIA in 2004.
He has been an associate editor and editorial board member of the Indian Journal of Radiology & Imaging since 1981 and edited the Krest Vision radiology newsletter from 2002 to 2006. A dedicated teacher, he has taught postgraduates in diagnostic radiology since 1980, organised more than 100 CME programmes, conducted over 100 image interpretation sessions and delivered more than 100 guest lectures at national meetings.
