He spent nearly two decades in academic radiology at Kamineni Institute of Medical Sciences, Narketpally, rising from Assistant Professor (1999) to Associate Professor (2004) and Professor (2008), and served as Professor and Head of Department at Kamineni Academy of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Hyderabad (2012-2017). He was Senior Consultant Radiologist and Head at Virinchi Hospitals, Banjara Hills (2016-2022) before joining Yashoda Hospitals, Hitec City in August 2022.
His expertise spans general radiology with a focus on ultrasound, CT and MRI. He performs body CT and CT-guided interventions on 64- and 128-slice scanners, neuroimaging including head and spine CT, myelography and CT cisternography, and 1.5T and 3T MRI for neurological, abdominal, musculoskeletal, pelvic and paediatric indications, including MR angiography, spectroscopy, diffusion and perfusion studies. He also reports whole-body PET-CT for cancer staging, treatment response and surveillance.
He performs diagnostic angiography of the brain, chest, abdomen, spine and limbs, and ultrasound- and fluoroscopy-guided procedures such as percutaneous nephrostomy, abscess drainage, biopsies and biliary drainage. His diagnostic ultrasound work includes transrectal, transvaginal, colour Doppler and duplex studies, and he has special interests in fetal MRI, gastrointestinal radiology and thoracic radiology.
Dr. Eshwar Chandra has published in journals from 1994 to 2017 on topics including spontaneous intracranial haematomas, CT features of pulmonary tuberculosis, spontaneous spinal epidural haematoma, CT-guided fine needle aspiration of the lung and mediastinum, and imaging of mycotic infections. He has guided many students' theses, participated as co-investigator in clinical trials, and served as radiology reader for imaging endpoints in international oncology drug studies.
