Before joining Medanta, Dr. Rajput served as Senior Professor and Head of the Department of Endocrinology at PGIMS, Rohtak, where he built a long academic and clinical career. He is a Fellow of several leading professional bodies, including FRCP (Edinburgh), FACE (USA), FICP, FIACM, FISH, FIMSA, FRSSDI, FITS, FIPA and FDI, reflecting his standing in endocrinology and diabetology both in India and abroad.
His clinical work covers the full range of hormonal and metabolic disorders. He manages uncontrolled and complicated diabetes, diabetes in pregnancy, and diabetes in children, young people and adults, along with adult and paediatric obesity and thyroid disorders. He also treats menstrual disorders, PCOD, hyperprolactinaemia and hirsutism, cholesterol and lipid disorders, endocrine causes of hypertension, metabolic bone disease and osteoporosis, and growth and puberty problems in children.
Dr. Rajput is a prolific academician with more than 180 publications in international and national journals. He has co-edited three books - the ITS Textbook of Thyroid Disorders, Endocrine Disorders in Pregnancy, and Women Health in Diabetes - and has written chapters for the API Textbook of Medicine, Manual of Endocrinology, Medicine Update and RSSDI Update. He also serves as a reviewer for journals such as Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice, BMJ Case Reports, Diabetes Technology and Therapeutics and Primary Care Diabetes.
He has held several important national roles. He is Past President of the Indian Thyroid Society and a past executive member of the Endocrine Society of India, and he has contributed to the Indian Lipid guidelines, the ICMR Standard Treatment Workflow for Endocrinology and the Endocrinology speciality committee of Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY. He has also served as an expert endocrinologist on the DCGI subject expert committee and as an assessor for medical colleges.
His work has been recognised with honours such as the Inspiring Diabetologist/Endocrinologist Award from the Economic Times (2020), the Sanofi Aventis Lectureship Oration in Diabetes at APICON 2018, the Sadikot Oration at UPDACON 2020 and the AR Seth Gold Medal for best research paper at ESICON 2007.
