- He has held senior leadership positions, including Consultant Medical Oncology and Head of the MDTC at Army Hospital (R&R), Commandant of the 590-bed Military Hospital, Jodhpur (2019-2021), Deputy Commandant, Head of Clinical Services and Dean Academics at Command Hospital (Western Command), Chandigarh, Head of Oncology Services at Command Hospital, Lucknow and Additional DG (Medical Research and Health) in the Office of DGAFMS, New Delhi.
- His clinical focus is on breast, gynaecological and gastrointestinal cancers, and he also treats lung, prostate and colorectal cancers. He plans chemotherapy and other systemic therapies within a multidisciplinary tumour board, so that surgery, radiation and medical treatment are coordinated for each patient.
- Dr. Swaroop is a Professor of Medical Oncology and has been a guide and examiner for DNB and postgraduate students at several universities, with a 100% DNB pass rate during his tenure as HOD at Army Hospital (R&R). He established the first molecular biology laboratory at a zonal Armed Forces hospital in August 2020.
- He treated more than 41,000 internally displaced persons in Vavuniya, Sri Lanka, earning a Chief of Army Staff commendation and a certificate from the Indian High Commissioner, and received a third COAS commendation for his work at Military Hospital, Jodhpur. He is a member of ICON, ISMPO and the Association of Physicians of India.
