These catheter-based procedures can often treat congenital heart defects without open-heart surgery, allowing children to recover faster.
- Dr. Patil also has expertise in fetal echocardiography, which allows heart defects to be detected before birth, and in advanced cardiac imaging including 3D echocardiography and cardiac CT and MRI. His intensive care training enables him to manage critically ill newborns and children with heart disease before and after surgery.
- He has published on topics including ECMO in paediatrics, pulmonary hypertension due to thiamine deficiency in infancy, unilateral lung agenesis with total anomalous pulmonary venous return and combined device closure and pacemaker implantation, and he regularly serves as conference faculty. He is a member of the Paediatric Cardiology Society of India, the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, the National Neonatology Forum and the Cardiological Society of India, and consults in Telugu, Hindi, Marathi and English.
