- Dr. Paresh Doshi has several firsts to his credit, including India's first Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery. He has operated on the youngest and oldest Parkinson's patients in the world and was the first neurosurgeon to perform depression surgery in the Asian-Australian region.
- Under his leadership, Jaslok has the largest DBS series in South Asia, with more than 750 DBS procedures performed, and the unit published the first series of DBS in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. His areas of expertise include DBS, lesioning and stereotactic surgery for Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders, surgery for psychiatric disorders, and surgery for chronic pain and spasticity.
- He has around 60 publications from 1991 to 2021, including a single-surgeon experience of 519 DBS cases over 20 years in Neuromodulation, radiofrequency lesioning for movement and psychiatric disorders, and the Indian guidelines on neurosurgical interventions in psychiatric disorders. He runs the DNB Neurosurgery programme and a functional neurosurgery fellowship for trainees from India and abroad.
- Dr. Doshi is President of The Neuromodulation Society, Vice Secretary of the World Society for Stereotactic & Functional Neurosurgery, a board member of the International Neuromodulation Society and the Asian Australasian Society for Stereotactic & Functional Neurosurgery, and Past President of the Indian Society for Stereotactic & Functional Neurosurgery.
- His awards include the Young Achiever's Award from the Indo-American Society (2002), the Medscape India Award for Excellence in Neurosciences (2012), the Pharma Leaders Indian of the Year in Neurosciences (2019) and the Times of India Award for Excellence in Neurosurgery in Mumbai (2021).
