He served as faculty in the Department of GI Surgery at GB Pant Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research, New Delhi, and as Assistant Professor in the Department of Abdominal Transplant Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he was involved in liver, pancreas and kidney transplants. He also worked in the thoracic division of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), New York.
- Before joining FMRI, he headed the Departments of GI Surgery, GI Oncosurgery and Bariatric Surgery at Fortis Hospital Shalimar Bagh, Fortis Hospital Vasant Kunj and CK Birla Hospital, New Delhi. He performs more than 1,000 surgeries every year, covering complex GI and hepatobiliary diseases, cancers of the oesophagus, stomach, pancreas, liver and colon, and laparoscopic and robotic bariatric procedures such as sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass.
- An active academic, Dr. Javed has contributed more than 50 articles to international and national journals and textbooks, has described innovative surgical techniques, and is regularly invited as faculty at national and international meetings. He favours minimally invasive approaches wherever possible to reduce pain, shorten hospital stay and speed up recovery.
