- Dr. Goel was among the first in India to introduce non-invasive ventilation and sleep medicine, and started a bronchoscopy training programme for intensivists working in ICUs. He is a Fellow of the National College of Chest Physicians, the Indian Sleep Disorders Association and the Indian Association of Bronchology, and a past executive member of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (Delhi and NCR).
- He has around 25 publications in national and international journals and has served as guest speaker, course director and conference chair at major Indian pulmonology, bronchology, critical care and sleep medicine conferences. His honours include oration awards at national conferences on two occasions, the Times Life Time Legend award and a National Award from the National College of Chest Physicians for research in pulmonary interventions.
