- Her special interests are IVF and infertility, endoscopic gynaecological surgery and high-risk pregnancy. She performs laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures for fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts and uterine abnormalities, and guides couples through the full range of fertility evaluation and assisted reproduction.
- Dr. Basu has held several leadership positions in professional bodies, including Vice President of the Indian Fertility Society (2010 - 2014), President of the Society for Clinical Excellence in Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Delhi, Secretary of the Indian Menopause Society Delhi Chapter, and Chairperson of the Country Committee of Public Health, All Ladies League, Women's Economic Forum.
- She has received the International Woman of the Year Award from the Biographical Society, Cambridge, UK, the Hamilton Bailey Prize and Gold Medal in Birmingham, UK, and a National Merit Scholarship from the Government of India in 1967. She is a life member of IMS, IFS, ISAR and NARCHI, a former executive member of AOGD, and a member of RCOG, ASRM and FOGSI.
