- Dr. Rupin Shah is one of the most senior andrologists in India, with a sub-speciality in male infertility. Since his training in Belgium he has pioneered microsurgery and other procedures for the treatment of male infertility and erectile dysfunction in India.
- He has developed several new techniques in andrology. His work on penile revascularisation received the Best Video award at the 6th World Meeting on Impotence in Singapore in 1994, and the Shah Indian penile prosthesis he developed is the most commonly used penile implant in India. His technique for microsurgical repair of obstructive azoospermia received the Best Video award of the Urological Society of India in 2000.
- His technique for sperm retrieval in men with non-obstructive azoospermia was presented at the annual meeting of the American Urological Association in 2004. For his pioneering role he received the Dr. B. C. Roy Award from the President of India in 2008.
- He is the convener of the post-doctoral FNB in Andrology of the National Board of Examinations, founding President of the South Asian Society for Sexual Medicine, senior advisor to the Global Andrology Forum and Associate Editor of the journal Fertility and Reproduction. He has published numerous papers, chapters and books.
- Apart from his work with the IVF department of the Well Women Centre at this hospital, he is a senior consultant at Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre and a visiting consultant at the Fakih IVF centre in Dubai.
