He also performs intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy using HDR and LDR techniques, commonly used for cervical, endometrial and other localised cancers, and provides chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, hormone therapy and concurrent chemoradiation for selected cancers.
His special interests include neuro-oncology, head and neck oncology, stereotactic radiosurgery, thoracic oncology, prostate and bladder cancer, and gynaecological malignancies such as cervical and endometrial cancer. He also carries out diagnostic procedures including FNAC, biopsy, bone marrow biopsy, thoracocentesis and abdominal paracentesis, and provides palliative care to relieve symptoms and improve quality of life in advanced cancer.
Dr. Shiva Prasad received a travel grant to attend the ESMO Preceptorship on Gastrointestinal Tumours in Singapore in 2017, where he presented a case on stereotactic body radiotherapy in locally recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma, and he passed the ESMO examination in 2019. He attended the ESTRO course on Target Volume Determination in Prague in 2018 and has published a study on hypofractionated post-mastectomy radiotherapy for breast cancer in the Journal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research (2016). He is a Life Member of the Association of Radiation Oncologists of India and a member of ESTRO, ESMO and ASTRO, and he consults in English, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada.
