He is known for total revascularisation using arterial conduits such as the left and right internal mammary arteries (LIMA, RIMA, BIMA) and the radial artery in various combinations, an approach associated with long-lasting graft patency.
- Beyond coronary surgery, he performs thoracic and vascular operations and has played an important role in developing cardiac surgical services outside the metro cities. He helped establish and run adult cardiac surgery programmes at the Heart Institute, Patna, and at the Medical College, Bikaner, bringing advanced heart surgery closer to patients in these regions.
- In recognition of his surgical training, Dr. Aggarwal received the Starr-Ahmad Fellowship in Cardiac Surgery from IACTVS.
