In general paediatrics he provides newborn and well-baby care, growth and development assessment, immunisation, treatment of common childhood illnesses, nutrition guidance, adolescent and school health and preventive check-ups. He also manages chronic conditions such as asthma, epilepsy and anaemia, and carries out developmental and behavioural evaluation.
His special interest is paediatric intensive care for critically ill neonates, infants and children, including septic shock, respiratory failure requiring invasive and non-invasive ventilation, cardiac critical care, neurological emergencies and seizures, trauma, poisoning and haemodynamic monitoring. He is skilled in PALS and resuscitation, extracorporeal life support (ECLS/ECMO) and point-of-care ultrasound-guided interventions, and is committed to quality improvement in the PICU.
Dr. Dara Swamy has published on stroke following trivial trauma, antitubercular therapy-induced hepatitis and hyperinflammatory shock in children with COVID-19, and has served as faculty at many conferences and workshops. He is a member of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, the IAP Intensive Care Chapter and PICCK-TS, and consults in Telugu, Hindi and English.
