Dr. Rajendra is a senior intensivist with national and international experience, including leadership roles at tertiary care institutions in India and abroad. He has served as Consultant in Critical Care at CARE Hospitals (2007-2009), Senior Registrar at The Canberra Hospital, Australia (2014) and Head of the Department of Critical Care Medicine at Gleneagles Aware Hospitals, Hyderabad.
His areas of expertise include advanced mechanical ventilation and ARDS management, neurocritical care, sepsis and multi-organ failure, ECMO and extracorporeal support, trauma care and obstetric critical care. ECMO temporarily takes over the work of the heart and lungs in the most critically ill patients, giving the organs time to recover.
Beyond the bedside, he has led work on NABH accreditation, quality initiatives, antimicrobial stewardship and clinical governance, and on developing ICU systems. For more than a decade he has been a recognised teacher and examiner for ISCCM diploma and fellowship programmes, mentoring many young intensivists, and he serves as an ISCCM accreditation inspector and faculty member. He has also authored several textbook chapters and speaks at national and international conferences.
His contributions have been recognised with the Best Resident Award at NIMS (2001), the Vaidya Ratna Award from the Government of Telangana (2019), the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Health & Medical Excellence Award (2021) and the COVID Warrior Award from IMA Hyderabad (2021).
