His areas of expertise include neurocritical care, polytrauma management, bedside echocardiography, ventilatory management of ARDS and advanced haemodynamic monitoring. In the stroke ICU he manages patients with ischaemic stroke, intracerebral haemorrhage, subarachnoid haemorrhage and encephalopathy, and he also cares for patients with neurotrauma and traumatic spinal cord injury. ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) is a severe form of lung injury in which careful, lung-protective ventilation strategies, including prone positioning, can be life-saving.
In the medical ICU he treats septic shock, cardiogenic shock and ventilator-associated pneumonia, and he performs central venous access, arterial lines, advanced venous access and resuscitation. He also provides care in the transplant ICU and offers anaesthetic services including pre-anaesthetic check-ups and outpatient anaesthesia for radiological procedures.
He holds the European Diploma in Intensive Care (EDIC) in addition to the Indian Diploma and Indian Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine. He presented a poster at ISNACC 2018 on prone position ventilation in a neurotrauma patient with severe ARDS after decompressive craniectomy, and served as faculty at a 2017 symposium on ARDS, haemodynamic monitoring and sepsis at Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad.
