At the Henri Bismuth Hepatobiliary Institute and Hopital Paul Brousse, among the world's best-known liver centres, he gained expertise in complex liver surgery and transplantation.
- His special interests are hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), liver metastases and living donor liver transplantation (LDLT). In LDLT, a portion of a healthy relative's liver is transplanted into the patient, and both the donor's remaining liver and the graft regenerate over the following weeks. He also performs major liver resections for primary liver cancer and for colorectal cancer that has spread to the liver.
- He is an internationally recognised key opinion leader in LDLT and HCC management, with more than 100 publications in international peer-reviewed journals. He serves as Associate Editor of the journal Transplantation, was elected Council Member of the International Liver Transplantation Society (ILTS) in 2023, and is invited faculty for consensus and practice-guideline development.
- His honours include the REAL Advancing in Liver Transplantation Award of ILTS (2023), the ILTS Vanguard Award for Best Published Clinical Research Paper (2016), the Dr. K.N. Udupa Memorial Oration of the Indian Society of Organ Transplantation (2016), the Best Oral Paper Award at IASGCON (2019), and award papers at ILTS congresses in San Francisco, Sydney and London and at the International Living Donor Liver Transplantation congresses in Seoul.
