He joined Max Hospital Saket as Senior Consultant Surgeon in 2009 and rose through the roles of Associate Director, Director and Senior Director before becoming Principal Director.
- His clinical interests cover laparoscopic surgery for gall bladder stones and biliary disease, hernia and abdominal wall reconstruction, obesity and metabolic surgery, oesophageal surgery for reflux, hiatus hernia and achalasia cardia, minimally invasive surgery for piles, fissures and fistula, and scarless surgery for thyroid and parathyroid glands.
- He has authored the textbook 'Endohernia Repair' (Volume 1, 2004 and Volume 2, 2012), a handbook on bariatric surgery and silver books on VAAFT, SILS and laparoscopic abdominal wall hernia repair, along with over 110 national and international articles. He also helped create a set of 15 educational CD-ROMs on minimal access surgery released by the President of India in 2002.
- Dr. Baijal is President of the Asia Pacific Metabolic & Bariatric Surgical Society, President Elect of the Hernia Society of India and FALS Chairman of IAGES. He received the Excellence in Bariatric Surgery award at the India News Health Awards (2016) and was recognised as a Surgeon of Excellence in Bariatric Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation, USA.
