Dr. Vikranth Reddy began his specialist career as Medical Registrar in the Acute Medical Care Unit at Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad, and then trained as Registrar in Nephrology at Kamineni Hospitals, Hyderabad. He further enhanced his skills as a Nephrology Fellow at the University of California, San Diego in 2009 and through an academic exchange programme at VU Medical Center, Amsterdam in 2011. He is regarded as one of the leading nephrologists in Hyderabad and has treated thousands of patients with kidney disease.
His expertise covers the complete spectrum of renal replacement therapy, including intermittent haemodialysis, SLED, CRRT, CAPD, APD, plasmapheresis and haemoperfusion. He performs interventional nephrology procedures such as percutaneous CAPD (Tenckhoff) catheter placement, percutaneous renal biopsy and insertion of temporary and permanent tunnelled haemodialysis catheters, and he manages immunosuppression protocols for kidney transplant recipients.
He has a strong research background, with publications in Transplantation, Blood Purification and the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology on induction therapy in renal transplantation, acute kidney injury in intensive care and citrate anticoagulation in CRRT. He has presented widely on haemodialysis infections, peritoneal dialysis and renal replacement therapy in the ICU, and has participated in multicentre trials in chronic kidney disease and transplantation. He is GCP trained.
Dr. Vikranth Reddy has received the Best Paper Award at SCISN 2005, the Swamy Vivekananda Vishista Puraskaralu (2014), the Ugadi Excellency Award (2018) and the Vaidya Siromani Award (2018). He is a member of the International Society of Nephrology, the American Society of Nephrology, ERA-EDTA and the Indian Society of Organ Transplantation, a life member of the Indian Society of Nephrology and several other national bodies, and an executive member of the Hyderabad Nephrology Forum.
