Dr. Vali had an outstanding academic record, winning ten gold medals during MBBS including the Raja Ratna Gold Medal for the best outgoing student of NTR University of Health Sciences, and topping the university in MD (General Medicine) in 2007. After his DM he served on the faculty of Osmania Hospital and Medical College, Hyderabad as Assistant Professor of Nephrology from 2010 to 2012 and Associate Professor from 2012 to 2020, and later as Senior Nephrologist, Head and Transplant Physician at the Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology, Hyderabad.
His transplant practice covers live-related, deceased-donor and ABO-incompatible kidney transplantation, as well as collaboration in multi-organ transplants. He also manages chronic kidney disease, diabetic and hypertensive kidney disease, polycystic kidney disease, genetic kidney disorders, glomerular diseases such as nephrotic syndrome, IgA nephropathy, lupus nephritis and vasculitis, and resistant hypertension.
In acute and critical care, Dr. Vali treats acute kidney injury and electrolyte and acid-base disorders, and provides CRRT support for ICU patients. His dialysis services include haemodialysis planning and management, haemodiafiltration (HDF) and CAPD, along with renal biopsy, evaluation of recurrent kidney stones and urinary tract infections, management of anaemia and bone-mineral disorders in CKD and preventive kidney health screening.
He has around 24 journal publications, including papers in Kidney International Reports, Frontiers in Nephrology and Cureus, and has contributed book chapters and conference presentations. He is a Regional Board Member for South East Asia of the International Society of Nephrology, an Editorial Board Member of NephJC and a member of the Indian Society of Nephrology and the European Renal Association. His honours include the Times Icons of Healthcare Award (2023) and recognition by Outlook (2022-2024) and India Today (2024-2026) among the best nephrologists in South India.
