He manages the full spectrum of acute and chronic kidney disease, including nephrotic syndrome, glomerular and tubulointerstitial diseases, congenital kidney disease, diabetic kidney disease, fluid and electrolyte disorders, urinary tract infections, kidney stones and resistant and renovascular hypertension. His special interest in glomerular diseases covers IgA nephropathy, lupus nephritis and ANCA vasculitis.
As a renal transplant physician, he manages ABO-incompatible, deceased-donor (cadaver) and swap kidney transplants, along with plasmapheresis and all forms of dialysis, including haemodialysis, CRRT, haemoperfusion, CAPD and CCPD. In interventional nephrology he performs CAPD catheter insertion by open and percutaneous techniques, PermCath insertion, real-time ultrasound-guided kidney and graft biopsy and AV fistula creation.
Dr. Pranith Ram has presented on long-term outcomes of kidney donors at ISOT 2016, Chandigarh, and has published on post-cardiac surgery acute kidney injury and novel biomarkers in Nephrourology Monthly and on antiretroviral therapy adherence in the Indian Journal of Medical Sciences. He is a member of the International Society of Nephrology, the Indian Society of Nephrology, the Peritoneal Dialysis Society of India and the Indian Society of Organ Transplantation, and consults in English, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.
