He was part of the team that performed the first renal transplant in a patient with the rare Bombay blood group.
- During the COVID-19 pandemic he headed the dialysis department at Jaslok Hospital as part of Project Victory and received a letter of appreciation from the BMC Commissioner for this work.
- Dr. Patil is closely involved in teaching. He has been a co-guide for DrNB Nephrology candidates, teaches nephrology residents and trains dialysis technicians and nurses.
