Composite Tooth Filling in India
Tooth-coloured (composite resin) fillings for cavities, small chips and worn teeth, done in a single short visit by experienced dentists at modern Indian dental clinics – at a small fraction of US, UK or Gulf prices.
📖 What is a Composite Tooth Filling?
A cavity is a small hole in a tooth caused by decay. Germs in the mouth turn sugar into acid, and this acid slowly dissolves the hard outer layer of the tooth (enamel). At first there may be no pain, but as the hole grows it can cause sensitivity to sweet, hot or cold food, food getting stuck and, later, toothache. If not treated, decay reaches the nerve and the tooth may need a root canal or extraction.
A tooth filling removes the decayed part and fills the space to restore the tooth's shape and strength. A composite filling (also called a tooth-coloured, white or resin filling) is made of a plastic-and-glass material matched to the colour of your tooth. It is bonded to the tooth and hardened with a blue light. It looks natural, contains no mercury and needs less removal of healthy tooth than silver (amalgam) fillings.

| Dental examination | The dentist checks all teeth, gums and old fillings. |
| Digital X-ray (IOPA / bitewing) | Shows decay between teeth and how deep it goes, with very low radiation. |
| Sensitivity (vitality) test | Checks whether the nerve is healthy. |
| Shade matching | Selects the composite colour to match your teeth. |
| Bite check | Checks how your teeth meet to plan the filling shape. |
🏥 The Procedure — Step by Step

⚖️ Types of Fillings
| Type | What is done | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Composite (this package) | Tooth-coloured resin bonded and light-cured | Front teeth and small to medium cavities in back teeth |
| Glass ionomer (GIC) | Tooth-coloured filling that releases fluoride | Children's teeth, root surfaces, temporary fillings |
| Amalgam (silver) | Metal filling packed into the cavity | Large back-tooth cavities (now used less) |
| Inlay / onlay (ceramic) | Lab-made piece cemented in the tooth | Large cavities where a filling would be weak |
📅 Your Day-by-Day Plan in India
| Day | What happens |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Arrival in India ✈️, airport pick-up, hotel check-in |
| Day 2 | Dental check-up, X-ray and composite fillings (several teeth can be done in one visit) |
| Day 3 | More fillings or other dental work if needed |
| Day 4–5 | Final check of bite and polish – Fly home ✈️ |
🌱 Recovery After Treatment
🏆 Success Rate
| Outcome | Result |
|---|---|
| Average lifespan of composite filling | About 5–10+ years |
| Yearly failure rate (back teeth) | About 1–3% |
| Time per filling | About 20–45 minutes |
| Pain after treatment | Usually mild or none |
| Visits needed | Usually 1 visit |
Fillings last longest when the cavity is small to medium, the tooth is kept dry during placement, and you keep good brushing habits, eat less sugar and avoid biting hard objects.
🩹 Risks & Possible Complications
Composite fillings are very safe, simple procedures.
- •Temporary sensitivity to cold – common, settles in 1–2 weeks
- •High bite needing adjustment – easily fixed
- •Staining of the edges over the years
- •Filling chipping or wearing over time
- •New decay around the filling edges
- •Rarely, nerve irritation needing a root canal (deep cavities)
