- Dr. Srinath began his career as Senior House Officer in Gastroenterology and Registrar in Nephrology at St. John's Medical College Hospital, Bangalore, before moving to Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar, where he was In-charge of the Intensive Care Unit and then ran the Emergency Department for nearly a decade (1999-2008). After his MD in Emergency Medicine he served as Assistant Professor at Vinayaka Mission Kirupananda Variyar Medical College, Salem, and as Senior Consultant and Head of Emergency Medicine at Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bommasandra, Bangalore, before joining Yashoda Hospitals, Hitec City.
- He is one of India's best-known leaders in emergency medicine. He has helped the governments of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka set up emergency departments, validate protocols and train doctors and nurses, trained obstetricians across Kerala in obstetric emergencies under the National Health Mission, and served as a Special Advisory Board Member and external examiner for the National Board of Examinations in Emergency Medicine. He is Editor-in-Chief of the National Cardiac Life Support, National Trauma Life Support and National Basic Life Support programmes and an Emergency Procedure Manual.
- During the COVID-19 pandemic he served as nodal officer, developing and updating treatment guidelines, and from January 2021 as Chief Vaccinating Officer, coordinating more than 500 vaccination camps and over 250,000 vaccine doses. His emergency practice covers the rapid assessment and resuscitation of critically ill and injured patients, including cardiac emergencies, stroke, trauma, poisoning and acute medical crises, with a strong interest in point-of-care ultrasound.
- Dr. Srinath is Treasurer of the International Federation of Emergency Medicine, a former Treasurer of the Asian Society for Emergency Medicine and a past President and Academic Council Chairperson of the Society for Emergency Medicine India (SEMI). His honours include the Sri APJ Abdul Kalam Award for Emergency Medicine and Star of EM (2018), a Lifetime Achievement Award (2015), Champion of Emergency Medicine from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (2014) and the Dynamic Indian of the Millennium Award (2022), and he was keynote speaker for the Emergency Medicine Association of Turkey (2021). He has published on stroke management, poisoning, acute pancreatitis, COVID-19 ICU setup and point-of-care ultrasound, and consults in English, Hindi and Telugu.
