He later served as Chief Neonatologist and Senior Consultant at Prashanthi Hospital Mother and Child Centre, Warangal, Chief Neonatologist at Ashirvad Multi Speciality Hospital, Varanasi, and Clinical Associate in the Department of Neonatology at BHU, Varanasi, before leading newborn care at Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad.
His expertise covers the care of extremely and very low birth weight preterm babies, bedside 2D echocardiography and cranial ultrasound, inhaled nitric oxide for persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn, therapeutic hypothermia for asphyxiated neonates, peritoneal dialysis and CRRT for neonatal acute kidney injury, amplitude EEG for neonatal seizures and exchange transfusion for severe jaundice. He also supports newborns undergoing surgery for congenital malformations and runs structured follow-up and early stimulation programmes for high-risk infants.
At Prashanthi Hospital, Warangal he established the first human milk bank in the Tricity area in 2022 and introduced BERA hearing screening, neonatal ventilator ambulance transport and a high-risk follow-up clinic. His special interests include milk banking, shock and fluid dynamics in neonates and preventive neonatology, and he is an NRP instructor under IAP-FGM and the National Neonatology Forum, a neonatal fellowship examiner and a mentor for DNB postgraduates and neonatal fellows.
Dr. Niranjan has authored around 20 journal articles on topics such as cranial ultrasound in preterm neonates, acute kidney injury in the NICU, neonatal seizures, sepsis and hyperbilirubinaemia, and is a contributing author to a neonatology textbook. He received the Best Outgoing Student award from Navodaya Medical College and an ICMR Short Term Studentship research award, and is a life member of the National Neonatology Forum and IAP Neo-Chapter.
